Tony Baffoe Rubbishes Ghana FA Post Claims

Anthony Baffoe

Ex-Ghana international Anthony Baffoe has strongly rejected media reports of his desire to contest for the presidency of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Local news reports on Thursday in Ghana linked him to the job post currently occupied by Kwasi Nyantakyi.

The 45-year-old was reported to be eyeing the post as Nyantakyi’s tenure expires in some few months. But Baffoe has rubbished the idea insisting he has no intentions of running for the GFA’s top post especially when he has only recently launched an organization to cater for the welfare of players in the country.

“How can I run for the presidency of the GFA when we have currently formed an association that demands my maximum attention,” Baffoe asked in an interview Afrikansoccer.com.

The former Düsseldorf player is currently the General Secretary of the Association of Professional Footballers one which was formed weeks before the World Cup to seek the general interest of Ghanaian players both home and abroad).

Baffoe served as the international relations officer for the GFA during Ghana’s maiden participation at the World Cup in Germany 2006. Since then he has worked for Fifa and Caf in various roles. He was a member of Fifa’s key team at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa earlier this month and he is expected to be handed more roles by the global governing body in future.
